Long before the internet; pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting advice was passed down from generation to generation, woman to woman. Sure, Babycenter.com & thebump have great checklists & charts but they'll never compare to the benefits of finding a great group of moms.
I was lucky enough to find a group of women that not only has amazing pregnancy & baby tips - they have also served as a place to vent my frustrations, get fashion advice, have been the source of many laughs and, when able, they're always there with a nice glass of wine when you need it.
They will understand (and still support you) when you complain about your spouse or your whiney children - because they understand, more than anyone, how the little loves of your life can also be the biggest pains in your rear (literally).
They will remind you to come play sometimes (hellllooooo Girls Nite Out!) and to SCHEDULE that date night already!!
They will give you much needed perspective or tips when you're too tired to come up with another solution for getting your teething toddler to sleep.
They will comfort you in times of loss in ways that others cant.
They will goes on walks with you, cheer you on & visit you when you cant seem to pull it together enough to leave the house. They arent phased by tears (yours or the kids), messy homes, smoke alarms going off, a few curse words here & there - and the good ones dont care whether or not you epi'd, breastfed, allow tv, do or dont co-sleep.
Some of them will even let you be wayyyy TMI and ask that question that you wouldnt dare ask anyone else. :P
... and the best part is that you get to repay it by doing the same for them. Motherhood is full of so many joys and challenges and who knows that better than other moms?
My 90 year old Grandma recently lost her friend of 60+ years - and guess where she met her? Thats right. Through her local moms group. 60 years! amazing.

Love it...
Great advice!!!!!!!I totally agree...I am so working on my group of moms...I have a few people but would love to have something more organized.
I whole heartedly agree! I don't know how I would have made it through the last year and half without a group of ladies who understand exactly how it feels to walk through the mall for 2 hours not knowing you have spit up all down your back...
Seriously. Don't know what I would do without you girls. :)
I came across your blog from The Bump. I am also in Nor Cal and was wondering what mom's group you belong too? Good luck with the remainder of your PG! Looks like we are on the same schedule with timing our babies : ) If you get a chance to let me know, my email is stacymartz@hotmail.com. Thanks!!
