37 weeks - Baby#3

Had an OB appointment today and theres no signs of any progress. With Brooklyn I was dilated to 1.5cm, 50% effaced & at a -1 station at 37 weeks. I should know better than to be bummed about my body's lack of progress - but I still am. I want to know that my body is ready to do this again. Im nervous that it wont be as speedy or will be more complicated this time. My Doctor said to not have any expectations. Right. My previous 2 labors were pretty much exactly the same, just a bit shorter the 2nd time. I was overdue both times, I went into labor in the middle of the nite, showed up dilated to 7-8cm and then delivered in the wee hours of the morning. My first was born at 454am and second was born at 430am.

I guess I should start walking like I said I was going to ... like I told my Doctor I was :-/

My First Born

is growing up right before my eyes. Shes one of the smartest, sweetest, silliest persons Ive ever met - and Im incredibly proud that God gave her to me to raise & torture ;) until she is old enough to head out on her own.

She currently has plans on becoming an immigration lawyer and dreams of going to Yale. Her teacher has encouraged her to continue on with her writing - telling her to become an Editor! I remember a year or so ago - the dream was to become a pediatrician. No matter which path she chooses, I know one thing; she will be successful.

Even with all her schoolwork she manages to be a wonderful sister, friend and daughter. David & I are amazed by all her hard work!

PSA: Moms: Find a Moms Group

This one tops the 'Must Haves' list. In fact, Its crucial - detrimental even - to your success as a mom.

Long before the internet; pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting advice was passed down from generation to generation, woman to woman. Sure, Babycenter.com & thebump have great checklists & charts but they'll never compare to the benefits of finding a great group of moms.

I was lucky enough to find a group of women that not only has amazing pregnancy & baby tips - they have also served as a place to vent my frustrations, get fashion advice, have been the source of many laughs and, when able, they're always there with a nice glass of wine when you need it.

They will understand (and still support you) when you complain about your spouse or your whiney children - because they understand, more than anyone, how the little loves of your life can also be the biggest pains in your rear (literally).

They will remind you to come play sometimes (hellllooooo Girls Nite Out!) and to SCHEDULE that date night already!!

They will give you much needed perspective or tips when you're too tired to come up with another solution for getting your teething toddler to sleep.

They will comfort you in times of loss in ways that others cant.

They will goes on walks with you, cheer you on & visit you when you cant seem to pull it together enough to leave the house. They arent phased by tears (yours or the kids), messy homes, smoke alarms going off, a few curse words here & there - and the good ones dont care whether or not you epi'd, breastfed, allow tv, do or dont co-sleep.

Some of them will even let you be wayyyy TMI and ask that question that you wouldnt dare ask anyone else. :P

... and the best part is that you get to repay it by doing the same for them. Motherhood is full of so many joys and challenges and who knows that better than other moms?

My 90 year old Grandma recently lost her friend of 60+ years - and guess where she met her? Thats right. Through her local moms group. 60 years! amazing.

Important Reminder

Date Night - make it a priority.
Im putting it at the top of my to-do list.

I found this article and am reposting it because of all of the simple fun date nite ideas:

Here are a few of my faves from the article ...

2. Try live entertainment, such as a band at a local bar, instead of a movie.

7. Pick up a bucket of fried chicken and head for the drive-in.

8. Put on your sexiest stilettos; sip fancy cocktails at a hotel bar.

16. Take turns singing cheesy out-of-tune ballads at karaoke.oddcast.com or freekaraoke.com.

20. Too cold or wet for an outdoor picnic? Spread a blanket on the floor and have a carpet picnic.

27. Museums usually have one free night a week, so hit one then.

28. Find a happy hour with 10-cent wings and two-dollar draft beers.

30. Grab a basketball and hit the free courts at the park.

36. Find a bridge and walk across it; the view can't be beat.

38. Drive out to a country field, lie down and snuggle under the stars.

49. Take a tour of garage sales in the ritziest neighborhoods.

50. Don't you just drive each other up the wall sometimes? Prove it — at an indoor climbing gym.

81. Book a double massage at a fancy-schmancy spa.

83. Rent a fancy car. Tool around as if you actually own it. (David would LOOOVE this!)
